Something no one talks about - Prevention

Prevention, is one of the biggest markers of health & longevity in exotics. Often when an illness becomes obviously visible, the issue has typically progressed beyond treatable levels. Additionally, it is incredibly challenging if not impossible for humans to accurately detect signs of ill health in exotic animals. What often appears ‘healthy’ to us is not a reliable indicator.

Exotics are complex and keeping them healthy in captivity is tricky. Much of the information available is largely driven by what ‘sells’ or promises convenience, rather than focusing on the real needs of the animal.

This creates a cascade affect that keeps outdated or poor information/beliefs in the system which is why these limiting norms are so ingrained and challenge frequently results in psychological resistance and backlash.

Even a few simple husbandry changes supported by good science backed information can create a huge positive difference and help prevent a whole host of illness and disease.
